Key Highlights of the Event

Why Safe Campus ND Matters: Every year across the Niger Delta, campus laboratories are vandalized, generators are stolen, libraries are damaged, and computer laboratories are compromised. With perimeter fences regularly breached and security infrastructure weakened, the result is billions of naira in avoidable losses and disruptions to learning. The SafeCampus ND Initiative exists to change this reality through awareness, stakeholder engagement, security sensitization, and collaborative action.

Programme Coverage & Reach: This extensive initiative spans across 9 Target States (Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers), directly impacting 26 tertiary institutions across the Niger Delta region. The expected reach encompasses over 2,000,000+ students, thousands of academic and non-academic staff, and hundreds of host community stakeholders.

Programme Objectives:

  • Institutional Security Awareness: Strengthen awareness of infrastructure protection among tertiary institution administrators and security personnel.
  • Student Engagement: Equip students with practical knowledge to become active stakeholders in campus safety.
  • Community Partnership: Promote collaboration between institutions and host communities for infrastructure protection.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Bring together government agencies, NGOs, private sector organizations, and educational institutions.
  • Sustainable Campus Security Culture: Create long-term frameworks that encourage responsible stewardship of educational assets.

What We Are Requesting

Logistics & ICT Support: To ensure smooth execution, we require Coaster buses for the movement of programme teams, fuel support, driver support, and inter-state transportation assistance. Furthermore, ICT support including laptops, projectors, multimedia equipment, internet connectivity, and digital awareness tools are highly needed.

Educational Materials & Equipment Requirements:

  • Educational Resource Needs: Notebooks, writing materials, campus security handbooks, branded educational kits, awareness banners, and specialized training manuals.
  • Safety & Security Donations: CCTV systems, public address systems, walkie-talkies, solar security lighting, emergency response kits, safety signage, reflective jackets, and fire safety equipment.
